I think that what Oliver has said about the difference between the current leadership and the old Kohl conservatives in terms of the context in which they grow up is probably more to the point that I was hinting at.

This whole project of an integrated Europe is quite fragile, but because more recent German leaders have little experience where this wasn't in the background the idea it might fall apart is hard to imagine.
