I certainly do not want ET closed down; it would fall into the category of public interest non-profits. But for profit enterprises, especially above some minimum size need to have their privileges greatly limited. And I don't think the problem is limited to the USA. I also think all corporations need to be limited to operation within a given nation. Some provision could be made to allow for subsidiaries in other countries, but the transactions between subsidiaries and the parent have to be transparent and subject to government supervision.

I know these are drastic measures, but the problems that need addressing are equally drastic. Corporate culture and current modes of operation are at the heart of almost all the most intractable problems we face. To move forward we have to address the issues that stem from the privileges that first permit and then require the corporate practices that give corporations their vastly disproportionate power. Individual, non-corporate citizens must be enabled to have their needs and interests addressed also and that is not happening now to any significant extent. We have to find a way.
