Too many and not enough choices in that poll. How about us just saying that you're not forgotten here, you're greatly missed, and we'd be happy to read anything you can and might like to say to us? I mean, Izzy, you are fucking dear to us!

Thank you, afew.  You guys are dear to me, too.  And you're not forgotten either -- I've been lurking.

Oh, kcurie, no worries please about the health thing.  So sorry to be misleading.  I actually did go through quite a long period of bad health for a few years, but have been much better the last couple.  So there wasn't any turn for the worse or anything, just referring in general to some lingering stamina issues and the like.

Besides, I know what's important in life -- circumventing community property laws and the liquidation, my shoes were shipped to an undisclosed location WEEKS ago!

All of the above, and more!  If it is easier, you could start us off with a shoe blog.  I'll poo poo your choice of shoes and put some sensible ones of my own in.

As it is, that's a smashing piece of writing by itself up there.

I don't know if thesis writing block is the same thing but my friend told me to just write something, anything, just write. Even if it is rubbish, at least there are words on the page. It sort of worked.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, IW.  I think it's exactly right -- just start writing and things get written.

I'm thinking about a weekend shoe blog -- I have some random shoe photos from my last trip.

You don't know much about me, Izzy. [I was a lurker in your regular day, here].

But I can assure you that I don't go shoe shopping without thinking of you. 'Problem is, I hate the it, and so try to amass all the Izzyesque enthusiasm I can before setting out on the ordeal.

Shoes hardly capture the breadth of your contribution to ET, but the recurring theme sure has breathed a bit of fun into the dreaded shoe shopping task.

Good to see you back!

Nice to see you, Izzy! I missed you.

On December 8, I thought of you: during the Lyon lights festival, some shop make special shop-windows exhibitions, and I found a shoe shop which made one with several miniature shoes (around 10cm long).

I took this picture for you:

Last Sunday I was taken aback by an amazing pair of Roman sandals sculpted in marble in the Villa Pamphili. And I said to myself, where in the hell is Izzy? I'll bet he/she (sufficiently genderless?) would love to see them.

Izzy, I didn´t know you were dealing with such an overwhelming list of stressors that would paralize anyone here, plus your father´s illness!  I am just glad that you post when you can because it adds your own warm and flexible tone.

Hope things will fall into place soon and you will feel settled down!
