That said , I don't see any proposal for a true federal state either.
As for energy, none of our polticians seem to be able to wrap their heads around the fact that we're never going back to cheap liquid fuel and the free market will not provide; government has to step in and they have to lead. The very thing they have been avoiding for 4 decades.

If you want to meaningfully speak of a structural deficit, you would speak of the deficit at full employment. But that's not what they do. They speak of the deficit at the "structural" rate of unemployment, which is a total nonsense.
