That's a great photo.  What part of Britain do you live in?  Wherever it is, I want to visit.  (Don't worry, I'd stay at a hotel and only require that you meet me for lunch once.  My treat. )

I live here, which is mostly empty space as far as habitation goes, but is also the home of this and this.

Local entertainment includes quite a bit of this, especially during the Summer.

I never turn down an offer of lunch. :)

Bath street festival.

The reason the camera is looking up is because they're wearing stilts.

Brighton rock.

On the beach. (And that's quite enough literary references for now.)

I was almost arrested while taking this.

I liked this one. I'm fiddling around with the black & white too. I have a friend who shoots summer landscapes through an infrared filter and gets some amazing results that way.

Tent city.

A notable Swindon landmark, apparently.

I have no IDEA how you did this but I agree with Olivia.  Very cool!

fabooj has explained it - put camera on tripod, open shutter, wait a few seconds, close shutter. There's some digital developing in Photoshop to bring out the basics, but the composition happens inside the camera, because moving lights are smeared out into streaks.

You can experiment with moving the camera too, but it doesn't usually look as good. :)

How long was the exposure on that one.  Even with a tripod, my freeway photos come out jagged.  Maybe I should get a really good camera.

These are awesome.  Exactly the type of thing I want to spend more time doing with my camera.  I had a practika MTL3 for years, which was so easy to use.  Now I have the Nikon D200 which is a stunning camera but so complex, I'm still getting used to finding out how to make it do what I want it to do on a shot.  These are fantastic pictures though.

Incredible. Never realised there is such talent here like you (and In Wales and Colman).

BTW, can someone confirm that I can no longer take part in this BooTrib competition, with some registration deadline having passed a week ago?

there's no registration required, all you have to do is check in at the master diary.  There's still time to join the showcase!
