It's muggy, hot and it looks like a thunderstorm to be approaching. Somehow the weather seems to fit the news. How's it going in your area?

I felt like I wanted to link to something cute and heartwarming

Then I was wondering, as it is from youtube, wouldn't it be nice if I could embed it so that you can only click on it.

Well duh! I have not been able to make it work.

There is a html code on the page that looks like this:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tR_LccOnBMY"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tR_LccOnBMY" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

But as you can see there is more to it - does anyone know how this works?

Hi.  As I understand it, the embed only works if you insert it into a frontpage diary, not in a comment or a regular diary.  For those, you can only link to it.

That's too funny. There are a lot of beaches reserved for naturalists along the Croatian seacoast, maybe these ladies got to the wrong place?

Now I finally understand those trafic-jams on Swiss Highways.

Reuters: Speeding driver blames lack of goats

OTTAWA (Reuters) - A Swiss driver caught speeding in Canada explained that he had been taking advantage of the ability to drive fast without hitting a goat, police said on Wednesday.

The driver was caught traveling 161 km/hr (100 mph) in a 100 km/hr zone in eastern Ontario Sunday.

"A motorist from Switzerland, used to driving around hills and mountains, takes advantage of the ability to go faster without risking hitting a goat," read the traffic officer's notes of the incident.

Local police said it was the first time they had ever heard of such an excuse.

"I've never been to Switzerland but obviously they must have a problem with that there," said police spokesman Joel Doiron, adding that in his 20 years of service he had never found a goat on the highways of eastern Ontario.

I watched France-Italy, The Revenge (heh, heh). It was in the second round of Group B qualification matches for Euro'08, and ended in a for me fabulous 3:1.

In England tommorrow the first tranche of "Trust" schools are to be announced. At the moment I just want to put on record my suspicion that one will be the London Oratory School.
If I am right, more tommorrow.

Good catch. This would make a lot of sense.

Let's see if you're right.

I have hidden (not deleted) a comment I posted earlier and to which a number of you had responded - at my wife's request, who does not want this on the internet for now.

I don't know if this will turn up in the English press tomorrow.

TELECINCO: GARZON RIAPRE PROCEDIMENTO CONTRO BERLUSCONI

Telecinco: Garzon reopens case against Berlusconi

The Spanish judge, Baltasar Garzon decided today to reopen the case against Silvio Berlusconi for fraud in relation to the investigation into the Telecinco channel. In an act notified today, the judge of the Audiencia Nacional explained that he took his decision "seeing as Silvio Berlusconi is no longer Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, which was the reason the procedure had been suspended under the statute of immunity."
