I'm feeling like this guy:

506/1903.
The Honourable Civil Engineering Authority
it Pécs.

In response to your official transcription No. 1090/1903, which arrived with yesterday's mail, and in which you ask what should happen with the old spur found on the limits of the settlement Nagy-Berek? I answer with official respect that the Sirs should fuck their spur, because in a heat of 35°Reaumur [43¾°C] we can't deal with such shittiness.

Budapest, 18 August 1903With all due respect
horse-dick in your ass
Dr. László Réthy

Hun. Nat. Mus. Coins And Antiquities Department
deputy director.

For the XIVth district Hun. Roy. Civil Engineering Authority
in Pécs.

I had no idea Dick Cheney had Hungarian ancestors!

As far as I'm concerned, there's about two hours in the spring and two hours in the fall when the weather isn't a) too hot or b) too cold.

Hi NS!     "Phew whatta scorcher" eli "Kerpele, se on vittun kuuma"

Now I'm glad I added air-conditioning to my car lease spec. I know I'm naughty, but on the other hand I'm driving about 5/8ths less kilometerage than a year ago - so I feel I have done my bit. I have also not been in a plane for several months.

Morjens! My car's a/c consists primarily of rolling down the window (the car was manufactured at some point before the fall of the Berlin wall). Fortunately I don't need to drive a whole lot. Except for this past week, when I moved apartments; I've been driving back and forth so much I feel like I should be standing trial at the Hague.

there are arguments that if you have a modern car, then turning on the air conditioning is about 1% more energy eficient than opening the windows and disrupting the airflow over the outside of the car

Life should consist in at least fifty percent pure waste of time, and the rest doing what you please.

Update: the heat was done away by a series of thunderstorms. And on my way home, I saw something quite remarkable.

There was one thunderstorm just over Budapest. Another was just approaching my hometown. And the two were connected by a giant S-shaped, narrow dark band of clouds with sharp contours (bridging a distance of c. 20 km, but longer due to the bends). As I neared home, it seemed that the S-shaped cloud is moving towards/winding up on the second stormcoud.

Do you have a theory of the Roche limit of thunderstorms?
