6-Nation Rugby Tournament Saturday: Wales and France win!

Result: Wales 30 -15 Scotland Wales clearly outplayed Scotland with Shane Williams leading the Welsh pack. Bravo Wales!

Result: France 26 -21 Ireland France, was hot and cold, outclassing and outgunning the Irish team during the first 50 minutes of the game but Ireland rallied during the second half; at the end of the day, Ireland buckled under. Bravo for Vincent Clerc and bravo France!

Tomorrow, England tackles Italy in Rome.

Unexciting England win v Italy (none / 0)

England baredly made it against Italy this afternoon; match was not that exciting -- England was a total disappointment; frankly thought Italy would trounce them by a hairline. Final score: Highlights: 23 - 19.

The press is now of course predicting a March "final" between Wales and France in Cardiff.

I hope it'll be an evenly-fought, exciting game with lots of fast, attacking play. Won, in the end, by the best side, of course.

The Welsh win against England was one of the most unlikely comebacks of recent years and underlines the great unpredictability of the 6 nations. Ireland, having been sucker punched 4 times in the first 50 minutes could have, and perhaps even should have won it in the end. Go figure. When was the last time you saw an Irish scrum crush the French scrum and force them to concede a penalty try? You could have got odds of 1000 to 1 on that beforehand. Except for Hook and Shane and Martyn Williams, Wales look very ordinary, but at least they try to play an exciting brand of Rugby. Hats off to the French back three of Clerc, Heymans and Rougerie: They were a class apart.
