So, Barbara is organizing a yoga retreat in Český Krumlov the first week of August, and after that we will be traveling together for about ten days, mostly in the Czech Republic but possibly including a foray into Poland or Slovakia. Since I will be in the area on two Saturdays (the 9th and the 16th of August) I thought I could organize a Central-Eastern Europe meetup to prove that ET is not just an Anglo-French affair, and also as an excuse to finally meet DoDo.
There aren't that many ETers I can name off the top of my head who are in the CEE area... Nanne in Berlin, Sargon in Prague, jv somewhere in the Czech Republic, Almanax and generic in Austria, and DoDo in Budapest. I'm sure I'm missing some people and I would hope to draw some lurkers out of the woodwork with this diary. Also, depending on the location ETers in Western Germany or Switzerland might be able to join us as there are a number of direct sleeper train and short-haul flight connections available. Anyway, thinking of the locations mentioned above it would seem that Vienna (or, for cheaper and smaller nearby towns, Brno or Bratislava), Český Krumlov itself (or the nearby Linz or České Budějovice) or Prague might be more or less convenient locations. DoDo can probably help with train connections and travel times, and it's also possible to fly into most of the towns mentioned (except for Krumlov or Budějovice). So, what we would like to know in the comments is whether you would like to come, which of the two proposed dates (August 9th or 16th) is best for you, and where you'd be coming from (for travel planning and also deciding on the most convenient location for the most people). |
