Yes!!!  I was hoping you´d go so I can spill wine again...  <embarrassment>  We won´t go to the pseudo-Spanish place again.

This is just too tempting, Chris!

I´d meet Christopher!, so I would have somebody to talk at my level...  Plus all the great people I have NOT and HAVE met before.

Very seriously starting to plan it, so put me on the maybe list for now and maybe all of us will make it.

You can take me out of the maybe column - turns out I won't be nearby. It was always somewhat of a longshot anyway, but it would have been fun if it had worked out.

Too bad! I hope you will be able to come to a future meet-up.

Haven't booked yet, but will arrive thursday and leave monday. As I'm off to visit firends I'll be driving.

Sven and Melancthon : Are you okay for a monday departure ?

ps I believe that Metatone has persuaded nanne on the basis that Plassy Home becomes an outpost of Caol Ila for the weekend.

I still have a couple of days to go to see how one big project will pan out and thus allow me to take a few days off without interfering with the deadline.

So answer later this week. I'd arrive Friday lunch via Eurostar (leaving early from Brentwood) having flown Thursday to Stansted. I'd also like to start to Lyon on Sunday, so I can still get to Aix on Tuesday, back to Paris on Wednesday and late Eurostar back to Brentwood. etc. Even so It'll be a week trip.

The back up plan is to do the ET part only and get back to London on Sunday. That way I only use a long weekend. My Ex is visiting my daughter in Aix a week or so later, so my trip there is not essential - but would have been nice.

I hope you're not trying to find excuses not to come to Lyon...

How could you think that! ;-)

It's all to do with how long I can be away. I am working on a big presentation for a client for their annual sales conference that takes place at the same time as I am to be in Paris. The way things are meant to go, I can hand over to the AV boys before I leave, since I am not supposed to be needed at the venue. But we have to distribute a DVD right after the conference. It is this that I have to confirm at this Thursday's production meeting.

Time for comments from an ignorant American.

  1.  I won't be attending the get-together (and the crowd cheers!)

  2.  I assume you folks will be packing your laptops and that at least some of you are equiped with audio/video phone capabilities.  I got my new laptop about a year ago and I've been itching for the chance to do a "Star Trek" visual phone call with someone.  Hell, anyone not physically attending this event could call in to those that are there.  COULD BE REALLY COOOOOL!

I don't speak/understand French but I'm sold!  How much for the lady?  She looks like she could be a hoot.  Crate her up and send her.

Now back to important stuff.  How about that phone thingy I'm suggesting?

I see (to my regret) that Geezer in Paris is not on either list, and haven't seen him post in a while. Does anyone have news from him lately?

Anyway, see you then.

Ah, it's a good job we didn't actually go to his boat to say hello last weekend then.

Hello everyone: this summer, I have relocated from the Grenoble suburbs to the Paris suburbs (St Quentin area, SW of Versailles): new job, new residence...

So, this time I may be able to meet y'all in Paris on Friday or Saturday night.

Europeans think a hundred miles is a long way. Americans think a hundred years is a long time.

Well, Solveig & I are now booked in at the Passy Home for three nights, Thursday to Saturday inclusive.

Looks like Saturday pm could be the big one. Not sure what the form is.....

No definite plans yet, though I'll most likely come alone and stay only Friday and Saturday (Friday night only at Passy Home, I suppose).

I'm booked at the hotel, but I need somewhere to park my car. Preferably near the hotel but somewhere safe near a metro or railway station nearby would be just as good.

Anybody have any ideas ??

Alas, I have to downgrade from Maybe to No.

Life happens, and has been happening lately, which precludes travel across the pond in the next couple of weeks.

However, I am hopeful that there will be another meet-up (bigger, better, more people, etc.) fairly soon. Or in spring.

Meanwhile, post lots of pictures so we can participate vicariously.
