Monsieur LEP is away this week, on the Superheroes Academy where he will be put through a number of gruelling tests before they give him back his cape and underpants and let him dash around once more.
Meantime, here is a doggie Superwannabe, with a snug fitting cape of his own.

This week's blog will be "Inspiration", and so long as you credit the owner these don't have to be your photos. Then, the regular "Photos As Usual".

As usual, "Ask the Expert" about anything you like, composition, technical things and so on.

Please try to keep to 600 pixels width and 100kb to 150kb max in file size and take a look at Wednesday Photography Blog No.2 for the technical bits on how to post.

Someone's new technology automatically limits width of photos shown to 600pixels. But it allows you to click and hold on the photos to see the larger version if the file is greater than 600 pixels in width.

Please do not click on post a comment but reply under one of the headers instead.

Have fun, and throw anything in, we want to see your photos!

The atmosphere in this one is very cool! Tripod? But I would play with the perspective.

Hand held.  Playing with perspective was constrained by the location of cars on both sides of the road.  And people walking past looking at me as though I was doing something very strange.

What would you do perspective-wise?

Hand held.

Wow! A steady hand!

I just meant the post-processing (PhotoShopping).

You've really developed as a photographer. I find it very inspiring. It's all about looking and thinking (and feeling), and wanting to communicate. It's not something you can learn overnight, but almost anybody can do it with a bit of dedication - and a willingness to experience and acknowledge mistakes.

The challenge of taking one photo a day makes me keep my camera with me and I look around me much more.  The shot above is one I have wanted to take for months but the touch of fog was needed for it to be right.

I'm looking round for clamps like this with a flexible bit so I can hold objects/plants in place for macro or product photography.  Also for holding a reflector in place to free up hands etc.  I can get A-clamps easily but don't know how to improvise for the middle bendy arm bit.

There is a great range called McClamp in the US but the shipping fees are hideous and I can't find them in the UK. One version has a metal pole that you stick int he ground and the flexible arm with the clamp keeps flowers etc still outside.

So I am trying to figure out if I can make my own before I spend money on it.

Any ideas - especially for the bendy arm part?

The clamps can be found cheap at most stores that sell car stuff/tools etc. Always useful to have a couple with - especially the smaller ones. The bendy bit you can improvise with a two or three wooden laths (stiff, flat and light) about 12"+ long. You can usually find something in situ like a chair to provide a solid base. I had one lath with an old tripod screw glued to it so I could start from a video tripod with a fully rotating head.

A length of thick wire that can be hand-bent is also useful, as are a few industrial strength rubber bands. Duct tape takes care of almost all other solutions ;-) Thread a roll onto the shoulder strap of your camera case.

Oh, and the retracting aerial from an old radio can be a useful bit of kit also. All this makes you look like the rag and bone photographer, but ignore the scoffers. Far more important to get good content - otherwise it's just poncing around with the latest sexy gear ;-)

This site is well worth checking out (found it on the UK's top 100 blogs list!)
