Early Friday Photography Blog #131.

by LEP
Sat Mar 20th, 2010 at 05:02:01 AM EST

Greetings and welcome to the 131st edition of the Eurotrib Photography Blog.

As you know I haven't taken many photos this year (I've gotten to hate winter) but I did take a few yesterday at the 16th Birthday Party of the girl  who I believe to be the youngest registered member of ET. You haven't seen much of her this past year; she's extremely busy with the 10th grade which is the start of high school in France. So, Happy Birthday to estHer ;)

Today we'll have "Photos as Usual" and the "Ask the Experts" technical section.

Happy Posting!

I'm reminded of the Purina commercial -- I think it was Purina, anyway -- with the tagline, "Dogs Rule."

Big block of shadow mars the shot though.

Same again.  I was using a tripod but it was incredibly windy.  I should also have ticked the dust removal box before scanning.

As above.  I also tweaked the colour balance on this one, there is a purpley tinge to some shots so I've brought in a bit more cyan.

the darker one is untweaked, which looks better?

I prefer the second one - the added contrast makes the picture more dynamic, and makes the triangular composition appear.

thanks, blinding fast feedback!

i agree, except for her skin looks less glarey in the first, that's the only aspect i like better in the darker one.

Have you tried tweaking the colour balance to tone down the orange slightly?
