This is both depressing and infuriating:
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has warned that her country's financial strength should not be overestimated by those who believe German money can solve every problem.
No one is asking it to. What we've been asking is for the German government to stop vetoing every credible solution to the crisis for the last three years.
Mrs Merkel has also warned against overstraining the resources of Europe's biggest economy and rejected solutions to the eurozone debt crisis such as issuing joint euro bonds or creating a Europe-wide deposit guarantee scheme.
She said such proposals were "counterproductive" and would also violate the German constitution.
So use some of your political capital and change your fucking constitution like you expect everyone else to. Didn't bother you that the Fiscal Treaty required constitutional changes elsewhere.
If the Euro is the Titanic then Merkel is Captain Smith.
