Both Katrin and I are complaining of sore feet after walking around all day. However I had a great time and I hope she did as well.

We started in the model railway exhibition and, seriously guys, you just have to come and see it. An ET meetup. Cos it's just amazing. I spent the first hour just laughing at how good it was, many small gags thrown around, lots of car crashes to highlight that rail transport is better. And lots and lots of trains.

And an airport. That works, with planes taking off.

Two and a half hours and I bet we missed half of the stuff.

then walked around the Hanseatic/Hamburg museum. And that had a train set as well.

"now building up the enthusiasm to go pub crawling"

My feet are warning me that "crawling" is the right word.

Just back from Warsaw. Not that I needed it necessarily,  but it's quite a reminder of what Europeans can do to themselves (all the more since I visited the uprising museum on the day that they had the veterans for the anniversary celebrations).

Now in Munich (very pretty place, by the way). Soon after arriving, our host (a Frenchman married to a German) stated "the thing is that Germans have had enough of paying for everyone else's follies, and they are right!". Also, though he had personally opposed the Maastricht treaty (to his credit, I guess), he claimed that "but then the other countries did not play by the rules that they had just agreed to".

Oh well...

You're right of course -but this is a rather intelligent and educated man (if not by nature prone to shaking up the establishment).
What are the hopes to get a majority to understand the situation?

My first thought was how much media we have to control.

Then i realized the young ALWAYS find a way through.

The Elders must then be ready to guide the breakthroughs.

There's a video gaming podcast I follow.  The most recent episode had a sort of trivia quiz segment.  I thought one of the questions might be amusing in the context of ET.

The newly announced New Super Mario Brothers 2 gives Mario the chance to collect 1 million gold coins.  Given the apparent monetary base of Bowser's kingdom, what economic school would he most likely support?

a - Neo-Keynsian
b - Chicago
c - Austrian

None of the contestants got it right.

Is Nintendo trying to turn children into Austrians?

We've talked before about how intuitively appealing conservative and monetarist notions of economics can be.  Apparently Nintendo has realized the same thing.

'Real money' theories are even appealing intuitively to scientists and engineers, leading them to propose 'energy-standard' monetary systems every bit as deflationary as the gold standard.
