We decided not to go to the Munich booze-up this weekend. I'm happy with that because it's quite a long way, and I was teh designated driver.

I was in Munich midday today. Fortunately I was able to get off at the Ostbahnhof, go to the centre and back without even having to deal with the HBf.

French centenarian cyclist aims for 100km record - Telegraph

Robert Marchand, a former fireman and boxing enthusiast from Paris, has been training every day for months in hopes of crossing the finish line in less than five hours.

At nearly 101 years old, Marchand claims to have covered hundreds of thousands of kilometres on his bicycle during his lifetime and said he plans to cover the distance at a speed of 22.5 km/h.

"If I make it, I'll become the best in the world," said Marchand, who turns 101 in November. "I know that all over the world, in China, in the United States, in Russia, they're already looking for someone to beat my record."

A French centenarian will try to ride his way into the record books on Friday by becoming the fastest cyclist of his age to cover 100 km.

I've had photography bookings every day of this week since Sunday so my weekend will be full of editing plus two more events tomorrow.

It has been unusually diverse though from a civic Sunday to a delegation of MEPs, campaign photography, coffee mornings and a political lobbyist event.

I am tempted to produce a guide for politicians on how to present their best side to a roaming photographer.

No 1. Hide your glass of red wine behind some promotional bumpf for the event in question.

No 2. Don't stare gormlessly into the distance when talking to constituents.

No 3. Don't eat sausages or flaky pastry goods from the buffet.

and so on...

But since they spend their lives at buffets and the buffets rarely have anything not flaky - they might starve to death!

Is this actually a secret attempt to improve the quality of politicians?

Inspired by Todd Akin?
"I've expressed this to Todd as my client for a while now, I've expressed it to him directly," Akin consultant Kellyanne Conway said in interview released today by the conservative Family Research Council. "The first day or two where it was like the Waco with the David Koresh situation where they're trying to smoke him out with the SWAT teams and the helicopters and the bad Nancy Sinatra records. Then here comes day two and you realize the guy's not coming out of the bunker. Listen, Todd has shown his principle to the voters."

I think it's a reference to These Boots Are Made For Walkin'.

Which is not at all bad (except for Akin).

As for the David Koresh allusion, that is really, really bad.

This is unbelievable.

Ann Romney: If elected, "mental well-being" Mitt's biggest challenge

Ann Romney's biggest concern if her husband becomes president would be his ability to maintain his "mental well-being," she said in an interview Thursday with KTVN in Reno, Nev.

She really said that.  Widely touted as Romney 'Secret Weapon' she comes out and says that.  In front of cameras, God, & everybody.

Ever since I learnt about confirmation bias I've started seeing it everywhere

by ATinNM on Fri Sep 28th, 2012 at 09:31:04 PM EST
Maybe she loves her husband and doesn't want him to be president.

Or maybe she hates him for making her and her horse a subject of scorn.

Or both.
