Recognition of financial rules between Britain and the EU has not been tried before on the scale envisaged by Carney, which could make negotiations tricky and protracted. Has TRUMP replaced THE WORLD at ET? Was going to post this in THE WORLD but it sorta fits here:
Devin Nunes Will Step Down From Leading Russia Investigation  HuPo
House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) will step down from leading the investigation into possible ties between President Donald Trump's team and the Russian government, he said in a statement Thursday.

Nunes said he will have Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas), with assistance from Reps. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) and Tom Rooney (R-Fla.), lead the investigation.

You may remember Trey Gowdy from the Benghazi hearings. Too bad he couldn't tap Micky or Andy instead of Tom Roony for assistance to Conway. Perhaps they can call on the shade of W.C. Fields. He at least would be entertaining.

Every president of the United States, the richest nation on the planet is the "leader of the free world", is HE not? According to all the public intellectuals, mustered by VOA/NPR producers today to comment on "the Change in Policy" and "Broader Strategy [IN THE GREATER MIDDLE EAST --remember yer PNAC formulary!], the

Anyone speaking from the not "free world" is corrupt, ignorant, and, more important, alienated from the true comparative purchasing power of their own currency. They are envious of "our way of life", are they not, and ought be disregarded, ridiculed, or pitied?

Trump is the world , momentarily. And he, too, shall pass.

So. Remember yer Kennan!

Why Spend $54 Billion More on the Pentagon? To Start a War, Obviously. - FPIF
The president apparently wants to put the U.S. on a permanent war footing to sustain his unpopular presidency.

The uncomfortable truth is that Trump probably doesn't have any specific war-fighting scenario beyond laying waste to ISIS territory and declaring mission accomplished over the smoking ruins. Rather, he wants to put the United States on a permanent war footing as a way to sustain his unpopular presidency.

Until a challenger emerges that can focus U.S. national security concerns, Trump will let fire at range of targets such as terrorists, journalists, and Germans. Perhaps his provocative rhetoric and actions will encourage some small country to stand up suicidally against the United States and allow Trump to declare a Grenada-like or Panama-like victory.

hmm, yes, well.

"Enemy of the People" in the USA is beside itself today -- uncertain whether to praise Trump vengeance, disparage Trump unitary command, or evoke Mr Obama's cautious R2P ("innocent babies", moderate rebels or Kurds, and al-Nusra/ISIL/ISIS)principles. The development of this process will be known, oddly enough, as "Change of Policy" because the US attack on a sovereign nation "strain relations with Russia."

Also with members in both chambers of the US Congress such as McCain and Kaine.
Sen. Kaine: Before Syria Strike, Trump Should Have Included Congress

KAINE: I don't think the Obama administration made a mistake. The president - President Obama knew that if he was going to wage war against a sovereign nation that that really was not covered by the 9/11 authorization and the Constitution required that he get the approval of Congress. This is what Donald Trump was tweeting out in 2013, the president must go to Congress.

The bulk of his justification for going to war is based on submarine warfare. The Zimmermann telegram gets a single sentence, and of course there's the "make the world safe for democracy" thing, but mostly it's about making war to vindicate the United States's god-given right to sell stuff, including munitions, to one side in a war. "The present German submarine warfare against commerce is a warfare against mankind." Interestingly, he doesn't mention the Lusitania.

Too much to hope for.

Yesterday's incidentally history lesson by the producers at VOA/NPR omitted the significance of April 7, 1917 in the construction of modern ah commerce, or "globalization", figuratively speaking.

Woodrow Wilson signs the war declaration, and it's away we go. (Yes, Congress alone has the authority to declare war, but they wanted to do it in a form he'd also have to sign). The only actual acts of war seem to be the seizure of 91 German-owned ships, many of whose crews sabotaged them as soon as they heard about the declaration of war, and an order to arrest 60+ alleged spies. This is done without a court order under the president's powers derived from the Alien Enemy Act of 1798, one of the Alien and Sedition Acts. FDR used it to intern Japanese-Americans.

LOL! "Methods of financing the war with [?!] Germany and extending huge loans [KCHING!]to the Allies constitute one of the chief subjects considered at today's Cabinet meeting."
