Day 15 - Sacred valley

by Jerome au Perou Mon Aug 27th, 2012 at 11:24:03 PM EST

It's taken me a while to upload pictures given the very slow connections over here, but here are finally some pictures of the sacred valley (above) and various Inca sites.

Day 14 - Cuzco

by Jerome au Perou Tue Aug 21st, 2012 at 10:11:08 PM EST

We had the whole day today (Tuesday 21) to visit Cuzco, and it's by far the nicest city we've visited to date - and also the most obviously prosperous. It's also a one-industry town, completely focused on tourism.

Day 13 - Train blogging! - Puno-Cuzco

by Jerome au Perou Tue Aug 21st, 2012 at 09:48:44 PM EST

From La Paz, we went back to Puno and were supposed to continue by car all the way to Cuzco. Thankfully, we managed to switch that part of the trip to the daily train between the two cities, the Andean Explorer.

Day 7&8 - Sucre - Potosi - Uyuni

by Jerome au Perou Fri Aug 17th, 2012 at 08:08:38 PM EST

My last note was that we were blocked in Sucre by a local strike (which, in Bolivia like in Peru, often take the form of road blockades) - with a short comment a bit later that we had managed to get through.

Here's that tale, along with pictures of Potosi and, the next day, Uyuni.

Days 5&6 - Puno - La Paz - Sucre

by Jerome au Perou Tue Aug 14th, 2012 at 11:05:22 AM EST

I was not expecting to be able to update the blog today, but there is a strike today and strikes in Bolivia means blocked roads and we are stuck for the moment and unable to proceed with our itinerary...

Sunday, we drove from Puno to La Paz, and yesterday, we took an early plane to Sucre, where we spent the day (and where we are still right now)

by Jerome au Perou Sun Aug 12th, 2012 at 07:36:34 AM EST

Most of the day near Puno - part of it walking on water...
