But the short answer is:  No.  

If the Vietnam War is any guide--and so far the US has been following the old, losing strategy from Vietnam precisely--the next phase in the Iraqi War will be massive aerial bombardment of villages, and detainment of the civilian population in "refugee camps".  

The aerial bombardment, at least, we can be sure of.
