From The Australian:
VOTE counting got underway in Chile today after presidential and legislative elections.

Balloting concluded in most polling stations at 4pm (6am AEDT Monday) and officials immediately started counting the votes.

Some voting offices were to close two hours later, and first partial results were expected to be announced at 6.30 pm (8.30am AEDT Monday.)

Former defence minister Michelle Bachelet was widely seen as the favourite to take over the presidency from fellow socialist Ricardo Lagos, but opinion polls ahead of the voting indicated she would fall short of the 50 per cent needed to avoid a January runoff.
