I scanned Brazilian papers with Googlenews, and if my minimal all-Latin knowledge helped me right, they say 44,76% for Bachelet, 26,73% for Piñera, 23,52% for Lavin after 12% of ballots counted. *Lunatic*, n. One whose delusions are out of fashion.
Bachelet, 54, garnered 45 percent of votes in early returns, short of the majority she needs for a victory today, according to a tally the government posted on its Web site. The early result suggests she may face a run-off election next month with the second-place candidate, multimillionaire Sebastian Pinera, who won 27 percent in early returns.
So if the same rules apply in Chile (possibly not), maybe Bachelet's final percentage can still get above 50%. *Lunatic*, n. One whose delusions are out of fashion.
