One of the varieties of fairy of Irish folklore. The cuddlier versions have pots of gold and grant wishes which they twist to embarrass or chasten you. The less cuddly versions aren't that nice.

Actually, to top everything off, that reference is border-line insulting if you're sensitive to such things in an Irish context, as many people are.
