Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.
Another good chapter, although this whole thing is making me rather nervous.

I went out, very briefly, with someone whose name was either Howard or Harold.  I've always gotten those names mixed up.  Anyway, it was all terribly awkward dating someone whose name you can't get straight.  I was just always avoiding saying it, which he didn't seem to notice too much.  At first.

It all came to a horrible end one night at a restaurant when we ran into some good friends and I confidently introduced him by whichever one his name wasn't.  He seemed to take it personally and I can't say I blame him, really.  But he took it as a sign that I didn't care.  I assured him that wasn't the case, but I have a freakishly good memory for lots of other things, so he wasn't assured.

Plus, it didn't help that I'd been so sure about his name being whatever one it wasn't, that when he corrected me I sort of argued with him for a second.  I was all "are you sure?"  In my defense (such as it is), this was not long after I'd been in that car accident and, yes, I did break the windshield with my head, but still...

Maybe we can eventually make language a complete impediment to understanding. -Hobbes
