Well, I've seen it like that on the Autobahn (and often enough too ): ), but where the traffic thins out and the speed limits drop away, it's a whole different ballgame. That's when the reps, execs and other assorted road warriors start showing off what their Mercs and Beemers can do.

The number of people injured in traffic accidents has dropped from 600.000 in 1970 to 200.000 in 2002. The number of people killed has dropped from 22.000 to 6.000, of those 4.000 were killed in cars and on motorbikes.

AT the same time (1970 - 2001) the amount of individual car transport in billion km per annum has doubled from 350 to 700 bn km.
