We used to pass through Frankfurt several times a year and I loved to spend a few days laying over there after being in some less pleasant surroundings.  The first booking we ever had on an ICE train (Frankfurt) taught us an important lesson.  We stood by our car until just about boarding time and as we approached, intending to board, the steps suddenly withdrew without warning leaving us to scramble for a later train!
