Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Hello everybody,

I emailed Rue89, a french news website that was started by ex-Liberation Journalists. They're getting bigger and somewhat represent the new French journalism: less preoccupied by relationships with politicians, and genuinely interested by blogging. Their motto is 'three voices for information: journalists, experts, bloggers'. They are interested in frontpaging a story about the genesis of the Stop Blair petition, with more of an emphasis on the collaborative aspects. It may be start of in depth coverage in the french media.

I'm no that good a writer myself, for one. the other thing is that it may be interesting to write the story oursleves, as a group. Although rue89 is in French, it's probably a good idea to write in english -- so that it's reusable elsewhere - and then translate to French.

So, anyone in?

I think we run this by Melanchthon, he is clearly a good writer and the petition began with him.

Starting from the French and back into English would be most efficient imho.

Sounds good to me: writing in English opens the project to more people, but I have no objections. I will write both at the same time, if anyone wants to jump in.

I'll email Melanchthon then.

Great media contact, by the way!

I said French just because that's Melanchthon's native language, the petition itself was drafted in French and the media being written so is French too, so getting the copy out would be quicker that way. (That might actually be presumptuous of me as he writes excellently in english obviously too.)

We've of course many people here who can translate either way, and splitting up the load, do so very quickly either way so I guess whatever works best is best...

Good work, Estran!

I'm in (while open to and hoping for collaboration with others as always), but do they indicate how soon they want something?

If you want, you know where to mail me.

Hello,

What's the usual collaboration platform? frequent emails or google shared docs? What's you take on the language? French sounds good, after all we can translate later.
I just asked how soon they wanted it.

They also say 4000 characters is best.
