Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.
Looking over the Atlantic, it's been interesting to watch the reaction by the blogosphere to Obama's inaction on FISA (warrantless wiretapping, telco immunity). The 'patron saint' of Daily Kos, indeed.

Kos was of course right to tout his early analysis on Obama as a real contender for the Presidency, a sign of being more in touch with the party and the US than virtually all pundits. That's a way to get more influence.

But when he tries to be Obama's biggest fanboy he's being stupid. Obama was the better candidate for the blogosphere, but he is not of them and differs in important areas in his analysis of what is wrong with the US and how to fix it.

Kos and the other blogs should retain most of their focus on (primary) challengers, through which they can enlarge their influence and 'crash the gates'.

All of this should have been clear a long time ago.
