She comes from a political family, and i think the roots of power/compromise came out strongly.  Further, as the first woman Speaker, she likely got lost in making sure she looked good for the concept that women could do the job.

Another part of the game is that she represented San Francisco, so she could be very liberal without worry.  But as Speaker, she was responsible to the whole country's demographic, and became what she really was... prudent.

Ultimately, i believe she was always beholden to top-level corporate interests, as shown by the deal she made for the Presidio, where in essence one of the most beautiful and valuable pieces of urban land in the world was "privatized."

I've never had the chance to speak candidly with her since i've moved here, and can't foresee the opportunity.
