The Polish press on the Ossetian conflict (LQD) (4.00 / 17)

I was going to include one more piece of commentary from GW, and more annotation. But I was getting a bit sick of the thing, and figured I better just post it if I wanted it to avoid joining the long list of unfinished diaries. And apologies for some of the inconsistent spellings of proper names - Poles transliterate things their own way, I'm transliterating back sometimes, sometimes remembering to put in the standard English version.

These pieces really show a range of views and all have their valid points. We should all appreciate the opportunity to read thinking from the perspective of a people who have had a historical front row seat to the push and pull that existed and continues throughout the former Soviet sphere of influence.

I wouldn't label this an LQD. Translation is not a lazy man's work.

To 'someone' - do you speak Polish or did you just go by proper names in figuring out where the breaks are? (Other than laziness the other reasons why I didn't do it that way originally is that I figured nobody here speaks Polish anyways, plus I haven't downloaded TribExt for my new computer - my old one decided to die two weeks ago.)

The TribExt translation feature uses Google translate, which can now handle Polish. Very, very poorly with many words left garbled and untranslated. But well enough to determine the breaks.

BTW, nitpick, but there was one garbled sentence where I couldn't guess what word(s) you wanted to use: Żaden polityk nie odważy się tego zaproponować, bo byłby to koniec jego kariery". to "No politician would their [propose giving them up] it would mean the end of their career."".
