Quoting her reply to Margot Wallström (from a week or ten days ago?) seems like a standard diplomatic response. In a context where no one is officially a candidate for a post that doesn't yet exist, it would be a mistake to declare oneself too soon.

So, though this may of course remain Mary Robinson's position, I'd say that all hope of her candidature is not lost.
