Ireland's governing party abandons alliance with right-wing parties.

Fianna Fáil, the governing party in Ireland, officially joined the European Liberal Democrat and Reform party yesterday.

The move means that Fianna Fáil will leave its current alliance with various right-wing and nationalist parties in the Union for a Europe of the Nations group in the European Parliament and join the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.
