Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

This all feels a bit strange, because I should have come to the last meet, but chance intervened and it's sort of a weird anniversary for me(!)

I'd love to come, but I don't know my situation. I'm pretty much trapped in the UK until I can get medical travel insurance again, for one thing.  I'm making the most of it by taking the children on a long-aspired-to UK road trip this summer  :)

I'll put you in the maybe list, just as a good omen. Who knows, maybe you can still make it. :-)

I thought that anyone covered by NHS was also covered by Sécurité Sociale. Hae I made that up in my deranged mind?

Absolutely.  But had I become ill in Paris last year (instead of a couple of days before), I would either have spent two months in a Paris hospital (where I know the care would have been excellent, but that would have been really hard on my family) or needed an air ambulance home.  I'm perfectly fit, my condition is stable and I will be able to get insurance, maybe even by September.  I'm just not going to like what it costs!
