Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

I'd like to point out a website that I find really good: Café Babel

It's about Europe, it's multilingual, It's about everyday life on the continent.

I believe the objectives are quite compatible with this site's and may be a good place to publish some of this site's stories (and give them more coverage), especially the ones about energy.

thanks for pointing this out.  looks like a great site.  i agree with you, seems to have some very good potential EuroTrib synergies:

The European magazine ~ Cafebabel

cafebabel.com's aim is to stimulate and develop European public opinion through its online magazine, offering every day an in-depth coverage of political, cultural and social trends from a unique, European perspective. These contents are written and translated by a vibrant community of babelians and then edited by our team of professional journalists. The website also offers babelblogs, the first multilingual blogs, and babelforums, a spot for pan-European debate in real time. At a grassroots level, the e-community is moderated by a network of local teams promoting the European perspective through debates, conferences and other physical initiatives.

also,

the association's headquarters is at its central European office in Paris.

would be interesting to see if it makes sense to do something with them at the next meet-up that takes place in Paris.

looks like nanne wrote about Café Babel and other European blogs/communities in the context of Euroblogs, three years ago:

On sites like Cafe Babel, there has been talk about the supposed high potential of blogs to stimulate a more interactive and democratic kind of politics in Europe.

This is all fine, but in practice it appears that there are only a few blogs that really engage in European politics. What's more, of these few blogs the two largest are openly hostile towards European integration. ...

What's looking very good to me is the multilingual approach. It's very time consuming, but semms to be really endorsed by the website.

That's good because you may reach people that otherwise would not read the site. (or write in it: I confess I'm far from fluent in writing english, whereas reading is not so difficult).

i just set up an account there, and interestingly, they provide two options for emailed notifications: for "events", and for "newsletter" which can be sent in seven different languages (though not clear if the content is the same translated into seven languages, or they have seven different newsletters in different languages).
