Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Declan Ganley as a serious voice and Kevin Myers as a moral giant are a couple of nails I'd rather miss. I'll pass on the stereotypes about the Irish (not being of that persuasion).

As for the Telegraph's series, it's mostly (predictably) Europhobic under a veneer of informative fairness. A handful of examples: John Petley of the Bruges Group's railways drivel, xenophobic nonsense about flashers in Paris, Foreign Office bile about Brussels, how the EU is driving the UK to bankruptcy, etc.

If it is a veneer, its a pretty thick one.

The responses have thought me that I should not mix comment and irony on this blog.

It seems to me that the Tories are waking up to the fact that Cameron risks being the turkey. The penny seems to have dropped even with Kevin Myers. And I did like the nice YES photograph, with the children.

The responses have nothing to do with your mix of comment and irony, to which you're welcome, but other users' frank opinion of what you suggested we look at.
