Deutsch: "You know, if you go to the grocery store, and you're buying your groceries. And they accidentally overcharge you 50 cents for your milk, you don't just say, well, you know what, let's just stop everything and figure out whether these scanners nationwide are working or not."

In California supermarkets were found to be charging at the counter prices higher than those posted on the shelf. When this was brought to light they protested that this was just a result of errors. Further investigation revealed that the "errors" were always in the favor of the supermarkets and they were ordered to refund their overcharges.

I do not recall the details, but I do recall I was offered free entry to Disneyland, among other possibilities, as recompense! While they should have been further investigated and prosecuted for conspiracy to defraud, at least they were called on their scam by an agency of the state. We should be so lucky in our official responses to "foreclosure gate".
