My general principle is to leave it to chance and not have any specially valuable stuff. Probably cheaper in the long run.

Also deters thieves. I'm not in the habit of locking my front door, in fact I realised a while ago that I no longer seem to have a front door key. As I am supposed to be handing over the keys in a month, I tried to change the barrel on the front door lock yesterday, and failed. Story of my life?
