Finland's Economic Growth on Shaky Ground

Finland's road to economic recovery will likely be bumpy. On Monday, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecast that Finland will grow by just 1.25 percent in 2010 and by two percent in 2011.

This doesn't worry me. Finland is investing for some years ahead. And anyway the low Euro is a boon to Finnish industry.

The VTT, by the missives they send me every month or so, seems to have the right idea: fund multi-disciplinary Applied Science and/or "Research Engineering" - call it what you will - efforts.

Well, if you'd been paying attention ;-)

I've posted several items to that effect. Their (Finnish R&D&I) latest buzzword is 'precompetitive' = cross-industrial cooperation in common research. 'Cross-industrial' is another Finnish buzzcompound de jour.
