Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.
The latest Cityrail New South Wales DMU's are the Hunters:

Which replaced the Endeavours that were used in two and four car sets for most Express services:

... the Endeavours from the Hunter Valley then going to join their brethren in the line that connects Sydney to  its southwest, beyond the reach of the catenary ...

... and the "Red Rattlers" (though shortly after the time I got to Oz they were given a new livery), where the cars remaining in service on all-stations services were retired when the Hunters were introduced.

The two-car push-me-pull-me configuration is driven by the patronage of the "regional" lines: the more normal configuration for Cityrail is a a two car set with driver in the front and motor in the rear, coupled together into push-me-pull-me sets of four, used by the Tangara, Millenium Bugs, and Outer Suburban OSCARs:

I've been accused of being a Marxist, yet while Harpo's my favourite, it's Groucho I'm always quoting. Odd, that.
