Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.
There was never going to be a 27-country treaty change, it was just "communications", so I'm not thanking Cameron.

I'm resigned to Britain going its Euro-sceptic way and, by opting out of everything, finally leaving the EU. If there's anything left to leave.

The UK won't leave the EU as long as the UK's biggest landowners are getting six and seven figure annual handouts from the CAP.

Cameron can do his political boo-hiss pantomime dame act for local consumption for as long as he likes, but that's the bottom line.

The CAP seems to have provisions similar to, but perhaps more generous than, various US "land bank" schemes to subsidize agriculture or pay to keep land out of production. The US scheme has resulted in The Grand Duke of Lichtenstein being the largest recipient of US agricultural subsidies for his sugar cane farming in Louisiana. This is likely one reason so little land is available for residential use in the U.K. It generates a large stream of income for the wealthiest citizens.

It's one reason, theres also the land registration details, which also result in a non-payment of tax.
