I have noticed that the length of the news segment on TV and the size of the front page of the newspaper remain constant, regardless of what is going on in the world.

So if you have three wars, economic meltdowns in multiple countries, natural disasters, side effects of natural disasters, and crazy politics all going on simultaneously, one or two of them are going to crowd the others off of the front page.

Conversely, if you have world peace and a happy mother nature, then the top headline will be about how pretty the flowers are this year, or similar...
