Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

The Irish have always suffered from wind something chronic (as the Welsh well know, with what blows over from the West).

But surely some consideration has to be given to the consequences for the planet of taking all the oomph out of Irish wind. The Irish may feel better for it, but what about Mother Nature? Fiddle around with her at your risk and peril. And this is no butterfly effect we're talking about here.

So let us err on the side of safety, and let the Irish go on dealing with their wind as they always have. The planet will thank them for it.

Talk about the weather non-stop?  No thanks! We talk about it more than sex. We're not known a windbags for nothing, although I must say I blow hot and cold about it. The Welsh are welcome to our leftovers, but why the Brits? Wouldn't it be funny if all our windfarms took the wind out of their sails?

If only you'd thought of that about 250 years ago, when the British depended on wind in their sails to rule the waves . . . could have had a free Ireland centuries earlier.

We could have reversed the polarities on the turbines and blown them away from our shoreline any time they tried to invade!  Unfortunately the Norse arrived a bit early to get our act together and they rowed most of the way anyway...
