Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

A test case, a guinea pig, because it is obvious that in one form or another this austeritarian disaster will be unleashed around the EU, and the core should not feel safe from harm. Already labor conditions and real wages in the EU southern periphery are converging downwards towards the poorest members of the union.

Part of the problem is that those who today pass for 'leaders' have no idea other than to follow the current course - at least no idea acceptable to their financial masters. And this is in no small part due to the parallel past efforts of their masters to spread, via their owned media, their views on the economy and society - TINA to neo-liberal, NCE inspired poison. Few prominent people will say that allowing the entire society to be run by finance in the interests of the continual enrichment of the very top of wealth holders leads directly to disaster. It has and we are teetering on the edge of collapse, but still they pursue their disaster inducing policies resolutely.
