Historians will ask questions like:

What were the factors leading to the end of the US Empire?
Why did the dominant sentient earth species not stop the destruction of its biosphere?
What leads to the mental illness called religion in a mortal species?
How do we forestall similar mistakes in other species?

ET is an excellent resource for the future. Keep writing. Plenty of Ph.D theses here.
