That was an excellent thread.

I have met him once, when I was attending a mediation training session in his area, in 2002 I think. He had just returned from Colombia, where he had been supporting local trade unionists, and I attended a town-hall type meeting where he reported back to his local community.

I suspect Melenchthon knows him better, as they moved in similar Maoist circles in the 1970s...

Interesting Fact : he spent part of his early life in Berkley, CA, where his parents were research scientists.

This photo is by a friend of mine (who got to know him when they did Seattle together in 1999). He's a sheep farmer.
