Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

I don't think any article ever has made me as profoundly depressed as this one. I actually had to stop reading at times cos it was so distressing to see these people who are supposed to bloody understand that Labour is not about cosseting the 1% trying to find ways of selling desperate poverty to the already poor.

Gods, who can rid us of these turbulent politicians ?

Meanwhile here in Hungary, the Socialists reacted to the second election success of far-right but social-populist Jobbik by... thinking about a law & order programme. Meanwhile, strategists of right-populist government party Fidesz are reportedly fretting over what to do with Jobbik, too: they think a direct attack could actually lead to more voters bleeding from Fidesz to Jobbik, and what they really fear is Jobbik playing the social card against them. Funny playing that card didn't appear to the Socialists.

Meanwhile in France, the response to the free-fall of President Hollande's and PS's popularity and the rise of FN was to make their own law & order man PM.

Do you notice a trend here?
