have enjoyed for two years reading business press parrots AMZN PR or guesses how AMZN operates fulfillment centers in the USA. AMZN rigorously enforces trade secrets the minute anyone, including employees, enters the premises. P&E of facilities are not identical. And, as I mentioned, managment hard copies nothing employees can carry out of the plant. Nothing but their aching limbs.

Moreover, sys ops permissions are strictly allocated by hierarchy so a vanishing few number per site have unified, cross-functional knowledge of or access to ops data. Many managers can't explain policy directions (eg. "rate" and headcount ratcheting, mandatory OT, GEMBA goal-seek) from HQ (yes, from Seattle, daily and periodically within 24hr) even if they wanted to. Which they don't, because privilege.

The AMZN way is Agile ® "project management" on B.F. Skinner steroids. Inappropriate but feasible, as surplus labor obviates continuity planning and labor negotiation.
