Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Back-biting: I rarely read what Greenwald has to write, I guess, because I've always favored trial lawyers' craftiness. (They actually test "theory" that can wind up having people killed or canonized.) And he's no trial lawyer. No  Maybe the Greta van Sustern of the innerboobs. She snagged a ride on O.J.; he's got Christ Snowden. So. with emptywheel and the Dkos minor-league still in the rear-view mirror, I can't help but wonder if this item is a sign that the "Russiagate" star is indeed falling.*
"The absence of women in the New York magazine piece on Glenn is sadly all too typical of how women's contributions and voices are erased from stories in which they've played a central role," said Jesselyn Radack, a lawyer who has represented Snowden and the whistleblowers Bill Binney and Thomas Drake. In response to a similar complaint I made on Twitter, Greenwald agreed: "The omission you cite is especially notable because most of the key people in my journalism career have been women," including Reed, the stalwart blogger Heather "Digby" Parton, former Salon editor Joan Walsh, former Guardian editor Janine Gibson, FireDogLake founder Jane Hamsher, and First Look Media co-founder Laura Poitras.

Hamsher! That's the name I'd forgotten, the one behind the "blackface" get-up during Obama's primary campaign. Classy.

* I might have cruised The Nation to find a copy-cat post, but my register-free-view-quota is exhausted, speaking of Joan Walsh and Patricia Williams, two of the three alloted to me.

Reminds me of a white co-worker who liked to imitate Richard Prior and some of his N word expressions. A black co-worker tried to tell him that, if he repeated that enough he might get hurt. He could not understand the difference between Prior and himself saying the lines. Back during the GFC and its immediate aftermath I used to read firedoglake for her take. I was, at that time, unaware of her larger political involvement and would never have guessed she had been so blind and insensitive as to appear in black face. I wonder what Bill was really thinking - "Oh, shit!"? I always thought he, at least, had more political sense than to pull such a stunt himself.
