When I was a child back in '66, this locution was unknown. However pressure to conform to sex, race, age, and gender stereotypes were. My pre-kindergarten teacher remarked on my report card that I didn't smile enough. So my mama called a meeting to inform my teacher that I was not there to entertain her. And that was the end of that. My mom loved telling that story about schooling Mrs Perry.
