The country will vote in a Sept. 30 referendum on the agreement, which would change their country's name to "North Macedonia."

What could go wrong, let me count the ways... I read a recent oped already cautioning that Russian agents have been active in Macedonia since 2008 and that the digital propaganda and fake news is gearing up. I would be sceptical of such reports, except that the list of Russian disruption activities that successfully muddied the waters is growing longer - plus the Kremlin is dead set against Macedonia getting access to NATO or EU-structures. Greece apparently already has banished several Russian agents, charging they were undermining the detente. And that's in addition to the flammable national pride on both sides.

Barrels of fun, this one.

No thx ... has been well publicized but quite poorly understood it was part of the coup d'etat by US neocons ... over 4 years ago!

Poroshenko had placed his bet on Democrats and HRC ... MI6 agent  Christopher Steele had done years of investigation with reports send to Vicky Nuland ...Everyone was stunned when their race horse stumbled just before the finish line! 😕

And the US has at least a ten times bigger meddling infrastructure. So I assume things get rather crowded in these referenda.
But unless Macedonia decided to splurge on shiny new Diebold voting machines, and I don't think they have any particular demographic group they want to disenfranchise, the referendum will most likely be decided by the usual local factors.

I mean look at the map. Macedonia is a tiny landlocked country circled by NATO controlled territory. I have no trouble believing that the Russians are not particularly happy with any NATO expansion but I don't see how they would care enough about that one to even try to out-bribe the West.
