Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Nice.

As it happens I took Arendt off the shelf this morning. She made a great show of differentiating the political effects and intellectual history associated with dictatorship, fascism, and totalitarianism in Responsibility and Judgment. Of particular interest to me is the relation of such philosophies to individual ideation of moral conduct and banal --or customary-- expressions of civil liberty.

So I re-read "Personal Responsibility Under Dictatorship" rather more closely, as I'd forgotten how deeply this thinking has influenced my apprehension of contemporary faction.

Diversity is the key to economic and political evolution.
