Civil Rights Cold-Case Bill Drafted by High Schoolers Becomes Law
The students voted to create a bill to provide access to these records and found a willing sponsor in U.S. Senator Doug Jones, D-Ala.

I'm not entirely sure what he expects Kamala Harris to do. After all, she has a re-election and a probable presidential primary fund to build.

I'd be more impressed if he laid blame on the GOP at this point

walp, blaming the GOP and Trump for all things untoward is exactly what the DCCC has done since, oh, ever. And vice-versa.

I wouldn't be surprised if all the tweeter --supposedly Harris' constituent, unlike prospective refugees from US-addled Central America-- wanted from Harris and her colleagues was payroll restored for "non-essential personnel", would you?

Now, his representative's purported principled opposition to financing a border wall might bring those two figures into conflict, if the two do not share the same courage of and, more pertinent, US Constitutional authorities to resolve this particular dispute between the Congress and the POTUS.

Ersatz "Four Pillars" of freedom FTW hang in the balance with the sausage links and personal sacrifices.

Of course, the livelihoods of neither Congress, POTUS, certain GS staff nor Judiciary are in immediate danger of retribution meted by "non-essential" classes of the body politic.

One waits with bated breath for the conclusion of this negotiation of convictions and profane priorities --seldom cast with responsibilities and obligations to US citizens. We are the world.

I for one am daily reminded of a cruel truth, recently discovered by my associate in a much, much more modest "leadership position": Persuasion is weighted with means to reward and punish.

At least, Mr Murillo is looking for a reward from Ms Harris.

Congress approves back pay for workers affected by current shutdown, future ones
The measure passed [FRIDAY] with broad bipartisan support, 411-7. All seven votes against the bill came from Republicans.

"On the first day that some of our federal employees will miss their paycheck, Congress is saying and guaranteeing that workers will be paid not only for this shutdown, but God forbid if we have any future ones, that their pay will be guaranteed," Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday.

President Trump has indicated he would sign the bill, which the Senate passed unanimously on THURSDAY.

Then, the lumber cut from it. 2 more cents from Intercept staffers confirms my life experience and my intuition. It does not arouse my admiration for any individual "profiled".

Three persons does not a chamber make no matter how many rings those three people kiss. It does not make a chamber to control --not "sway", not "influence"-- the votes of a legislature. Not in this country. Not in any country populated by persons who are waiting for instructions.

I wasn't raised like that.

Looking like the Democrats are going to front-load the primary season.  Having a total of 1,424 out of a total of 3,339 assigned by Mar 3rd -- aka "Super Tuesday."  The schedule is still in flux but it's looking more and more like the Democratic Party candidate will be chosen by the end of that month.
